Surfboard Artwork

This is something I've done a bit of over the years. I just did this one of Andy Irons, one of my favourite surfers, who tragically died a couple of months ago. I do these using black textas, methylated spirits and cotton buds. The board is mine, a custom by a good mate of mine and awesome shaper Stuart Paterson from :pcc surfboards. I thought I'd dig out some of my older ones and post them now.

NAB Staff Christmas Card

This was a job I recently did for Brand Behaviour. It is the card that NAB sent out to its staff members for Christmas 2010.

These are some fashion designs by my girlfriend, Tina Zumbansen. It was great to watch her working these up from quick pencil scribbles through to fully realized designs.

Merry Christmas Folks

This was a commission for a company called Brand Behaviour. Santa Claus is Karl Treacher, and my grizzled head is in there too, second from the right with the glasses on.

This is something I did just for fun around the time Frank Frazetta died. Thought it would be fitting to do something in the spirit of the great man's work. It's about 90% finished but I'm not sure I'm going to push it too much further.

Here's a (slight) caricature I did as a private commission recently. Apparently this guy is a big-time 80's tragic, hence the cheesy background and the classic Ford Escort Cabrio...

Volkswagen Event Concept Art

These are concept illustrations I was recently commissioned to do for an upcoming Volkswagen event. The first image is completely hand "painted", while the others are a combination of drawing, digital painting and digital collage.

This is a quick digital painting I did a week or so ago. I found a nice photo of my girlfriend Tina and tried out some of the new brushes in Photoshop 5. The likeness is close, but no cigar.

MINE CANARY

Mine Canary is the name of my brother Jasper's new music project. He asked me to come up with an image that he can use for stickers and posters and here is what i came up with.

Darren Percival - Microphones CD Artwork

I recently worked on this cover art for Sydney singer Darren Percival's new album, Microphones. The upper panel makes up the front and back covers and inside flap while the lower panel makes up the inside of the package. Moebius was an obvious inspiration for this one, as well as the x-ray/transparent effects in films like Tron, which Moebius incidentally worked on.

Life Drawing Sketches

Here are a few more figure drawings from my sketchbook. These drawings were done in New York, Berlin and Biro.

I stumbled across this photo of me, my brother and my uncle today and was reminded of this classic Demotivational Poster. So I had to give it similar treatment.

I recently drew this up for Waves Magazine and an upcoming surf competition at my home beach, Bondi. It was a lot of fun but kind of strange sitting in snowy Berlin and drawing summery Bondi. My money's on Owen Wright, by the way. He RIPS!

more sketchbook work

These drawings feature my friend the Sydney saxophonist Matt Keegan. He's putting together a website down the track and wanted to use some of my drawings as motifs on the site. It's always good to do work for someone whose work you admire, and Matt has been good enough to use my work for two of his band's previous albums, "Roadscape" and "Tone Imagination".

These drawings were done at the Spring Street Studio sketch club in New York City. I twiddled a few knobs in photoshop to end up with the blue page.

Here are two new drawings I did in my sketchbook for a friend of mine, Raquel Alvarez. She and her friend Patricia Oassé have started up a fashion blog - enossabr.blogspot.com, and had the cool idea of using drawings rather than photographs to introduce themselves to readers of the blog.

I've been filling my sketchbook here in NYC with scenes from the city, drawings of friends and life drawings. Some of the heads in this collage belong to Adam "Surge" Hart, my brother Jasper, his lovely girlfriend Cerelina and my great mate Les Robinson.

Road Warriors

So in the end I did work it up, it's not quite finished but it's as close as I could get before I ran out of patience. I wanted it to be a sort of updated take on Frank Frazetta's "Death Dealer". I might have another go at the same theme sometime down the track.

Canon IXUS True Stories TVC

Here is another selection of storyboard frames completed for Nick Robertson at Plaza Films Australia for a Canon IXUS TVC. I've also included a moodboard/digital painting I created which was then used to sell the idea of fitting out an empty shopfront to make it look like a real nightspot.
