For OZComics Draw-Off #16. I tried to make it look as much like the work of Alex Raymond as I could (on the Cintiq, anyway). Can't work out which colour scheme works better so I'll post them both.

The Rocketeer

I'm not really too familiar with the Rocketeer, I don't even think I saw the movie that came out about 20 years ago. But it was this week's theme for the OzComics Drawoff, so I had a go. I wanted things to look much more cartoony, but I ended up with something far from it. Sometimes that happens!

For CS3000. So many cool roles to choose from, but I went with the loveable crack-head Dicky Eklund Jr. from The Fighter. Here is a look at the process work, from first sketch to colour illustration. I have a feeling the sketch is still the best likeness!

Pygmalion

I missed the cut-off for this week's OzComics mythology-themed challenge. But I've always loved the story of Pygmalion, and used to like staring at the reproduction of Jean-Leon Gerome's painting of the theme at art school, so I had a go anyway. I didn't have much time to work anything up much this week, but it's still a bit of fun.

This week's theme was chosen by the winner of last week's Draw-Off, Douglas Holgate, and he picked the films and characters of the Coen brothers. I had to have a go straight away! Here is Anton Chigurh, the über-villain from No Country for Old Men, and Carl and Gaear from Fargo.

Couldn't be happier with this week's choice of caricature subject on CS3000 on Facebook, one of my heroes, Tom Waits.

I had to have a go straight away, might have gotten a bit carried away with the textural side of things here, but felt like a lot of fun after the Djokovic one.
